Wilderness West: Einfriedung

Located about 230m to the west of the fortlet at Wilderness Plantation is the site of an ‘enclosure’ on the Antonine Wall.

The enclosure is visible in aerial photographs, but no traces are visible on the ground. Excavation have revealed a bank and ditch enclosure, rectangular in shape with rounded corners with an internal area of around 6m square. It is not clear what the enclosure was used for. The enclosure lies just north of Wilderness Plantation, north of Balmuildy Road to the north-west of Bishopbriggs.
