    Upper edge has concave indentation like an anvil worn down by hammering of metal objects with a sharp edge. One side has similar indentation showing concentric semicircular marks. Suggest anvil for manufacturing nails. (JCH. 7/96)

    Possibly contained in bag of woven material some traces of which remained when discovered: comprises; split pins (3 pairs), L-shaped staples (3), thin strips (21), strapping, curved strapping (4), bent-over strapping (1-but see F.1936.174), strapping (3; much corroded), heavy L-shaped staple (1), thin sheeting (1), nails (31), twisted handle of knife (1), collar (1), arrowheads, three-winged (7), arrowheads, open (5), hilt mounting, T-shaped (1), spearhead, socketed (2)
