Mumrills
Box flue tile, Mumrills
Box flue tile found in association with the commanding officer's house at Mumrills Fort. These tiles lined the walls of rooms with hypocaust systems so that the hot air could flow under the floor and then up the walls. The incised lattice pattern is to provide keying for the wall plaster.
