Bar Hill
Wooden pulley block
A wooden pulley block (made of oak) found at Bar Hill Fort, Twechar, Scotland. It is approximately 50cm high x 15cm wide and was found during excavations in the courtyard well in the headquarters building. It dates to the Roman occupation of the site from AD 142-180. The cheek is perforated for a pulley axle and the top for a transverse beam.
