To  celebrate International Women’s day, the Rediscovering the Antonine Wall project and the Garrell Vale Optimists invite you to  an event about the women who lived on and around the Antonine Wall during the Roman occupation.

Speakers will include:

Dr. Louisa Campbell from the University of Glasgow about her research into colours on the Antonine Wall distance stones

Dr. David Breeze on the issues faced by the women traveling with the Roman army

Prof. Lawrence Keppie on Archaeologist Anne Robertson

Morag Cross on 18th / 19th century women with links to the Wall

The conference will be introduced by Patricia Weeks,  Deputy Head of World Heritage - Antonine Wall coordinator at Historic Environment Scotland.

You will also have the opportunity to handle replicas of everyday objects that have been found along the Wall, many of them at Bar Hill Fort. We would also like your ideas on possible Antonine Wall community projects within Croy and Kilsyth.
