Buchley: geàrraidh

Between Balmuildy fort and Wilderness Plantation is the site of Buchley ‘enclosure’.

The enclosure is visible in aerial photographs, but no traces are visible on the ground. Rectangular (with rounded corners) and ditched, the enclosure has an internal area of under 6m square and was attached to the south side of the rampart. It is not clear what the enclosure was used for. Just west of the enclosure, next to the curve in Balmuildy Road, lies a short section of visible Antonine Wall ditch. The enclosure lies between Buchley farm and Wilderness Plantation, just north of Balmuildy Road to the north-west of Bishopbriggs.
